Meet the Team
Michelle L. Marino, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C
Michelle is the owner of Renewed Outlook. She is a dual-board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. She has been working in health care for nearly 25 years. She began her career working in emergency medical services as an EMT and then as a paramedic. While working as a paramedic, she completed nursing school and worked as a registered nurse in medical-surgical units, emergency medicine, home care, medical intensive care, cardiothoracic intensive care, and geriatrics.
Michelle returned to school in 2009 at the University of Pittsburgh and completed her Master of Science in Nursing in the family nurse practitioner program in 2011. As a family nurse practitioner, she worked in palliative care, internal medicine, family medicine, and psychiatry. She fell in love with psychiatry and returned to school in 2017 at Robert Morris University and completed her Post Masters Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2019. Since completing her post masters, Michelle has worked in a child-adolescent behavioral health program that was integrated into a pediatric medical practice and in a group psychiatry practice serving children, adolescents, and adults.
While Michelle is also family nurse practitioner, she primarily practices in mental health care. Her experience in medicine has informed her ability to provide holistic care to her patients.
Michelle sees patients age 6 and older. She works with patients with a variety of mental health and behavioral concerns. She has a special interest in working with patients who have experienced traumatic events in their lives. Often times these patients are dealing with complex and/or developmental trauma and the significant impact it can have on their lives. Michelle has completed training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and other psychotherapy modalities.
Michelle lives with her wife and 4 dogs (2 Great Danes and 2 labrador retrievers) near Pittsburgh, PA. She enjoys creative activities, gardening, kayaking, camping, reading, and trying to do projects around the house. She has two adult children.
Personal Message from Michelle: Hello. Thanks for taking the time to look around our website and check out the services offered by Renewed Outlook. If our practice resonates with you, I would love to meet you. I really make a point to provide care that is effective and safe, but also enjoyable. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry, and sometimes we might even swear during a session and all of that is okay. I want this to be a place where you can be yourself and feel safe to do so. I want you to be informed about your care and I want you to be involved in your treatment plan. The goal is for you to become your best self. It can be challenging when we are dealing with everything that is going on in today’s world. While we can’t change much of that, we can change the way we deal with all of these challenges and we can learn to find joy and peace in our lives.
